Kai Phan

Art Project Manager | Curator | Community Arts Facilitator

Kai Phan is a contemporary art curator, project manager, and creative facilitator with extensive experience developing community-focused arts programmes across Vietnam and New Zealand.

Originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Kai combines a strong background in Business Administration with a deep passion for creativity, cultural engagement, and community development. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed visual arts exhibitions, contemporary dance productions, and multidisciplinary creative projects that bring people together through shared experiences.

Kai has worked alongside internationally recognised artists and leading contemporary art organisations, including UuDam Studio, The Factory Contemporary Arts Center, Galerie Quỳnh, Sàn Art, H2Q ART, and Toong Co-Working Space. His work spans project management, curation, artist support, and the development of innovative programmes that connect artists with local communities.

His portfolio includes coordinating large-scale contemporary exhibitions, producing dance performances, curating immersive cultural experiences, and leading projects that explore themes of identity, social change, environmental awareness, and human connection. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kai helped manage one of the world's first exhibition series responding directly to the shared experience of the global crisis.

At Hana Counselling and Education, Kai brings his extensive experience into community arts programmes that celebrate creativity, diversity, and inclusion. He believes that art is not only a form of expression but also a powerful way to foster wellbeing, belonging, resilience, and meaningful human connection.

Kai's facilitation style is welcoming, collaborative, and accessible to everyone. Whether participants have extensive artistic experience or none at all, he creates spaces where people feel safe to explore, play, connect, and express themselves without judgement.

His vision aligns closely with Hana Counselling's philosophy that healing and growth often happen through participation, creativity, and community. By bringing people together through art and movement, Kai hopes to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Kai believes that creativity is not about producing perfect art, but about participating fully in life. Through movement, imagination, and shared experiences, he hopes to create spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, others, and their communities with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
