Background and Experience

Kris Walsh (preferred name Kris) is originally from Manila, Philippines, and has lived in Auckland, New Zealand for most of her life. She is a registered Dance Movement Therapist with the Dance Therapy Association of Australasia (DTAA) and has worked in the field for over seven years.

Kris has a lifelong passion for music and dance as pathways for expression, connection, and well-being. Since childhood, she has experienced how music and movement can transform one's inner world and support emotional expression.

Her training with West African dance teachers shaped her love of rhythm, community, and embodied expression. Kris previously facilitated West African–inspired community dance classes in Grey Lynn and West Auckland, bringing joy and vitality to diverse groups.

Kris currently facilitates Dance Movement Therapy programmes for neurodivergent children and adults with Dance and Arts Therapy New Zealand and also works as a dance movement specialist in schools, creating inclusive spaces where everybody is welcome to move, explore, and thrive.
